Well arranged smile,
Shoes shining black.
Mantle of a gentleman.
Cold ambition pumps through his heart
As he eyes the ladder
Of success.
Cold steel rung grasped firmly,
He begins to climb.
To colleague,
Friend and foe
He doffs his hat,
Steps on their back,
Blinkered eyes look only up.
No offence.
Not yet regret.
No time to pause,
The climb is all.
Unfettered by compassion,
Fuelled by ambition.
Will he even know
If he arrives?
