Are you a Granny?
Asked the boy.
I see silver in your hair.
My Granny’s gone.
She had to go
To that place I cannot know.
I think the children there
Will be glad to share her smile
And feel her hug
And play with her awhile.
We used to play.
She smiled and loved and listened.
No need to rush or hurry.
I was her special joy.
Granny heard my dreams,
My plans.
Told me I will be a man.
A man of talents,
Of wisdom.
A man of love.
I hope she sees me from above.
Granny taught me with smiling patience
To be a man of conscience.
To love,
To give,
To do what’s best.
And for the rest
I want to say
Now that my Granny’s far away,
Will you be my Granny for today?
